The game on Sunday was a very competitive match for Lorcan as it was their first league game after being promoted to the U15 B's following an excellent first season for the Lorcan youths. Lorcan began the game very poor, with the away team having most of the possession in the first half. Dunshaughlin were holding onto the ball and passing it well while creating a lot of chances but not converting them.

Lorcan's Manager made some changes at the break bringing on Martin O'Reilly, Martin Byrne, TJ, Dean, Gavin Brady and Kevin. This was a wise decision by Mark as they made an instant impact on the game, when Leon lobbed the ball over the defence and Gavin Brady burst through to dip the ball over the keeper making it 1-0. Dunshaughlin were still pushing for an equaliser and were awarded a corner which was crossed into the box but was cleared by Stephen. Martin O'Reilly ran onto the ball at the half way line, cruising past three players before placing the ball in the bottom left corner of the Dunshaughlin goal to make it 2-0. For the third goal, Martin Byrne passed it down the line to Martin O' Reilly who pushed the play forward before crossing the ball to Sean Corbally who was unmarked and perfectly headed the ball down the centre of the goal. Just as Dunshaughlin tipped off after the third goal the Ref blew his final whistle.

This was the perfect start to Lorcan's first game of the season with them gaining a valuable 3 points!

Lorcan Celtic 1-1 St. Ita's

Lorcan started slower compared to the fast paced St. Ita's. Ita's broke the deadlock with a well worked free-kick which they chipped over the wall and was tapped past the Lorcan Keeper by the Ita's forward. Lorcan struck back 5 minutes later with a great ball from Leon Walsh in midfield, who lifted the ball over the Ita's defence for Daryl Doran to run onto and easily beat the keeper. It was all square at the break with both teams looking to push on as they thought the next goal could be the winner. Lorcan were stronger in the second half and had a great chance when Martin beat 3 players on the wing to put in a great cross for Daryl Doran whose effort was saved by the keepers legs.

The game ended 1-1 but considering Ita's were an A - League team, it would be seen as a good result with Lorcan improving every week!!

LORCAN CELTIC UNDER 14'S 2008/2009.

Lorcan Celtic were extremely impressed with the U-14's progression throughout the year.

As this was their first year playing together, they did themselves proud in finishing in 4th position in their league. Hopefully next season the lads can go one better and gain promotion for the club.
